"本稿は、2019年10月中旬以来チリで発生した社会危機を、2011年の学生運動や新しい左派勢力という視点から検討する。軍政下に導入され民主化後も継続してきた既存の政治経済社会システムは、経済格差や社会と政治の乖離を生み出し、それは市民の不満の蓄積、そして近年の抗議行動の増加へとつながった。2011年に大規模な学生運動が発生したことや、そこから生まれた新しい左派勢力である広域戦線が2017年総選挙で台頭したことは、2019年の社会危機の以前から既存のシステムに対する問題提起がなされていたことを示している。これまで学生運動や新しい左派勢力が示してきた変革への意思は、2019年の社会危機を通じてチリの多くの人々からも示され、新憲法制定に向けた合意へとつながった。2020年4月には新憲法をめぐる国民投票が実施される。既存のシステムを修正して維持するのか、新しいシステムへ変革していくのか、チリは大きな岐路に立たされている。",
