年7 月7 日の盧溝橋事件の勃発前後の時期を通じてアメリカ政府が中国に供与した借款の締結過程を再検討する。具体的には，35 年4 月の棉麦借款終了宣言前後から戦時期39 年2 月に正式に公表された2500 万ドル借款（桐油借款）に至る中米交渉の推移を通じて，対物借款問題の連続性と変質を解明する。35 年4 月にアメリカの復興金融公社総裁が棉麦借款の終了宣言を公表したが，その後の中米間交渉でも棉麦借款の事後処理問題は議論され続け，2500 万ドル借款の成立に影響を及ぼしていた。東アジアを取り巻くワシントン体制のもとで，国民政府はアメリカからの「借款」供与をどのように実現したのか。35 年11 月の中国幣制改革と中国への政治的経済的支援が一連の借款とどのようにつながっていたのか，2
